These terms apply to all bookings and services provided by Somnia Studios. By confirming a booking with us, you agree to the terms set out below. If you have any questions before booking, please get in touch! We’re always happy to talk things through.
- Our Services
Somnia Studios provides photography and videography services from Brighton and London, including:
- Wedding photography and videography
- Event photography and videography
- Portrait photography
- Music photography and music video production
- Documentary photography and film
- Commercial and product photography
- Advertising video production
- Fine art and alternative photography — including film, cyanotypes, mixed media, and more
All projects begin with a consultation, during which we’ll discuss your creative vision and build a detailed shoot plan together. We’ll then agree on logistics, including budget, scheduling, and location, before confirming the booking.
- Bookings & Confirmation
A booking is confirmed once you’ve received written confirmation from us by email. Until that point, dates are not held.
For weddings, events, and commercial projects, a deposit is required to secure your date. The deposit amount will be confirmed in your quote. The remaining balance is due no later than two weeks before your session date, unless otherwise agreed.
For portraits, music, and documentary sessions, full payment may be required at the time of booking or on the day; this will be confirmed with you in advance.
Booking requests are made via our website. We aim to respond within 24 hours on work days to confirm availability and next steps.
- Cancellation & Rescheduling
Cancellations: Portraits, music & documentary sessions
We understand that plans change. If you need to cancel:
- Cancellations made more than 2 weeks before your session will receive a full refund of any balance paid, minus the deposit.
- Cancellations made within 2 weeks of your session date will forfeit the deposit. If full payment has been made, a partial refund may be offered at our discretion.
- Cancellations within 3 days of the session are non-refundable.
Cancellations: Weddings & events
Due to the significant planning involved, weddings and events have an extended cancellation window:
- Cancellations made more than 4 weeks before the date will receive a full refund of any balance paid, minus the deposit.
- Cancellations made within 4 weeks will forfeit the deposit. A partial refund of any additional payments may be offered, depending on the work already completed.
- Cancellations within 2 weeks of the event are non-refundable.
Deposits are non-refundable in all cases, as they cover our time in consultation, planning, and holding your date.
Rescheduling
We’re happy to reschedule your session with reasonable notice — at least 2 weeks for standard sessions, and 4 weeks for weddings and events. Requests made with less notice are considered on a case-by-case basis and are subject to availability. Your deposit will transfer to the new date.
Cancellation by us
In the unlikely event that we need to cancel, we’ll let you know as soon as possible and offer either a full refund or an alternative date. We are not liable for any additional costs you may have incurred.
- On the Day
Please arrive on time for your session. If you’re running late, let us know as soon as possible. We’ll always do our best to accommodate, but late arrivals may result in a shorter session or cancellation.
For weddings and events, we’ll agree on a detailed schedule in advance. We ask that key people, props, and any equipment needed be ready at the agreed-upon times.
We reserve the right to pause or stop a session if conditions are unsafe or conduct is inappropriate. In such cases, no refund will be issued.
- Deliverables & Turnaround
Edited images and video will be delivered within the timeframe agreed at booking. Times can change depending on the size of your project and your needs. Typical turnaround times are:
- Portrait and Concert photography – within 1 week
- Music & documentary – within 2 – 4 weeks
- Weddings & events – within 4 weeks
- Commercial & advertising – within 2 weeks
- Fine art, alternative & mixed media – timeline agreed per project at consultation
Rush turnarounds may be available on request and may be subject to an additional fee.
Files are delivered digitally via a private online gallery or file transfer link. Physical prints or additional formats are not included as standard unless agreed as part of your package.
- Image Selection, Editing & Creative Direction
We apply our own creative judgement to the selection and editing of final images and footage. Not every frame will be delivered as curation is part of our service.
If you have specific shot preferences or style references, please share these with us before or during your session. We work collaboratively and welcome your input. Requests made after editing has begun may not be possible or may incur an additional fee.
Raw, unedited files are not available as standard. Please ask us if you need these, and we’ll let you know whether it’s possible for your project.
Each booking includes one round of revision requests, submitted as a single consolidated list within 14 days of delivery. Further rounds are available at an additional fee. Fine art and alternative projects are delivered as agreed at consultation and do not include revision rounds. This can be discussed during consultations.
- Commercial & Licensing Use
For commercial, product, and advertising projects, full usage rights and licensing terms will be set out in a separate agreement before the shoot. Standard packages cover the agreed usage only; additional or extended licensing can be arranged.
For all other services, images and footage are licensed for personal use unless otherwise agreed in writing. Do not sell or license material to third parties without written permission from us.
- Liability
We take every care with your session. In the unlikely event of equipment failure, data loss, or circumstances beyond our control, our liability is limited to a full refund of fees paid. We are not liable for any consequential or indirect losses.
We recommend that clients arranging weddings or large events take out event insurance, which can cover supplier failure and other unforeseen circumstances.
- Privacy & Image Use
How we use images, video, and personal data is set out in our Privacy & Photo Policy. Please read it alongside these terms.
- Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
If you have a concern, please contact us first at hello@somniastudios.co.uk
We’ll always try to resolve things directly.
